springtime in austin

It is Springtime in Austin, and what a fucking lovely time that is. The sun is shining, everything is green and the sky is blue and crisp. Perfect. The days are longer and summer is on the way. The 100-plus degree weather is not as appealing, but swimming and cruising in a boat on the lake is very appealing. I just wanted to get that out.

Some cool music I've been listening to:

Crystal Skulls, Rogue Wave, Laura Veirs, Jose Gonzales, Dengue Fever.
All of these bands/performers rocked at SXSW. I had so much fun wandering from day party to day party, seeing so much great music, drinking so much beer. Then there were the night shows! I couldn't party like that forever, but hell, it's only 4 days. For a music lover, the festival is amazing. Then again, this town is teeming with music, local and out-of-town. On any given night, you can see a great band (or two or three) playing right here in Austin, Texas.
Some upcoming shows I would like to see:

Calexico (acoustic set) April 15th, Fruit Bats April 18th, Voxtrot/Irving April 22nd, TV On The Radio April 24th (all at Emo's)
Matt Oliver of Sound Team April 16th at Beerland
Gris Gris, Brothers and Sisters and Brian Glaze (formerly of Brian Jonestown Massacre) April 29th at Emo's

This is just a sample of some cool happenings here in Austin. Will I attend all of these? Maybe, maybe not.

Until next time.
